Hiring Long-Arm Quilter

Watergirl Quilt Co. is looking for a Long-Arm Quilter to join our growing team. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who loves quilting and sewing, enjoys working with customers, and takes pride in doing beautiful, detailed work.
You will be trained to operate our computerized BERNINA Q 24 Longarm Quilting Machine with Q-matic, so previous long-arm quilting experience is not required but is preferred.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
* Preparing quilt tops for our quilting service
* Operating our computerized long-arm quilting machine — **training will be provided**
* Operating a domestic sewing machine to apply binding or make samples
* Discussing quilting options with customers, both in person and over the phone, to help bring their vision for the completed project to life
* Listening carefully to customers’ needs and finding creative solutions to exceed their expectations
* Advising customers on colour, thread and design choices for their quilting projects
* Helping customers select quilting designs that complement their quilt top
* Maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail on every project
* Keeping the quilting area organized and ensuring equipment is properly cared for
* Working independently and managing projects with minimal supervision
What We’re Looking For:
* Quilting experience is preferred, but not required
* A genuine passion for quilting, sewing, fabric and design
* An eye for colour and attention to detail
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Good math and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong computer skills are required, including the ability to learn and confidently navigate specialized quilting software
* Comfortable learning computerized equipment and technology
* Organized, dependable and able to work independently
* Someone who takes initiative and takes pride in their work
* A commitment to providing customers with a positive experience and beautiful results
Physical Requirements:
This is an active, hands-on position. The successful candidate must be comfortable with the physical demands of working with quilts and a long-arm quilting machine, including:
* Ability to lift and handle items weighing up to **50 lbs** as batting rolls are heavy
* Ability to reach, push and pull while operating the long-arm quilting machine
* Ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time
* Sufficient stamina to perform repetitive and hands-on tasks throughout the workday
This Is a Long-Term Opportunity:
We are looking for someone who wants to become a valued member of our team as Watergirl Quilt Co. continues to grow.
Our business hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday, and flexibility within these hours is required. The specific work schedule will be determined based on business needs. Anticipate 15-25 hours in the beginning and expanding to a 40 hour work week as clientele grows.
