Description: 

Make a splash with the “There She Blows” whale block (free pattern from Art East Quilting Co.) while learning a more precise way to achieve perfect corners using the Studio 180 - Corner Pop™ ruler.  

In this class you’ll learn how to replace the traditional Stitch & Flip (“snowballed corners”) method with the Corner Pop ruler’s streamlined cutting and trimming method to eliminate undersized units.  It also ensures your points land exactly on target. Participants will learn how to “Tuckerize” – adapt any pattern written with the Stitch & Flip corner method.

This is a great class for quilters tackling piece-intensive patterns from Art East Quilting Co. or Elizabeth Hartman, where precision corners and small units demand spot-on accuracy.  Leave equipped with skills to confidently sew modern pictorial blocks without the frustration of distorted points or mismatched seams.

Class Project:

For this class, we will be using the “There She Blows” whale block pattern from Art East Quilting Co.  Your finished 20” x 20” block can be used to make a great pillow, mini or larger quilt.

●      How to read and decode the There She Blows pattern, including fabric requirements, cutting charts, and assembly diagrams and create a new cutting chart based on the Corner Pop™ tool by Studio 180

●      The Corner Pop”™ ruler technique for precise corner units that outperform Stitch & Flip, with step-by-step guidance on sizing, alignment, and trimming tailored to this whale block. You will be able to take this knowledge and “Tuckerize” any pattern that uses the Stitch & Flip method. A cutting chart template will be provided.

Recordings:

Class recording will made available to all participants within 48 hours of class and can be accessed for up to 90 days.

There will be some pre-class preparations.
